Eyo also known as Adamu Orisha is a group of costumed dancers originating from Iperu Remo in Ogun State which has its source in Iga Eyo Pakerike.
Iperu Remo is the source; cradle and originator of Eyo in Nigeria. There are five different branches of Iga Eyo in Iperu Akesan; they include; Iga Pakerike which is Symbolised by the red cap of Eyo; Iga Agbonmagbe which is Symbolised by the blue cap of Eyo; Iga Eyo ODORU; Iga Eyo Mogusen/ Amororo and Iga Eyo Fibigbuwa.
The main source of Eyo in Iperu is the Iga Eyo Pakerike and the other four are the Iperu Royal Houses.
It came down to Lagos State after one of the Iperu maidens married a Lagos Prince and the Adamu Orisha was part of her Entourage and never left Lagos State after it spent a night in Lagos which shows that Eyo Was Stolen from the People of Iperu Remo in Ogun State by Lagosians
The Eyo is held after the death of a king or a highly ranked chief and also to usher in a new king but it has become a widely known festival that occurs yearly.
In modern-day times, Eyo is also held in honor of politicians especially a governor or a political leader at their request. This explains their attendance at Governor Dapo Abiodun's swearing-in who is from one of the Royal Households that Eyo has its source from in Iperu Remo. This also proves Dapo Abiodun is a true son of Iperu Land by the turn-up of the Eyo during his swearing-in.
The Eyo festival begins with the senior one out of the Eyo groups called the "Adamu Orisha" identified by his black hat coming out to announce the set date for the festival which comes up a week after and the groups called the Laba, Oniko, Ologede, and Agere comes out consecutively.
On the eve of the festival, there is merrymaking at the oba's palace in which the oba gives his blessings.
This is closely followed by the erection of the para erected by the Laba group and inspected by the Adimu which symbolizes the beginning of the festival.
Eyo with his beautiful attire comprising of white regalia, aropole, the bottom wrap around, akete, a hat with ribbons that symbolizes the group they belong to, a transparent facial cover called iboju and a staff made of palm fronds with inscriptions on it called Opambata all to assemble at the sounds of Gbedu and Koranga drums which are only used during the festival.
Baba Ijebu a true son of Iperu Land
A procession occurs from the enu owu where the para is located to the oba's palace to pay obeisance before moving out to the street and finally to tafewa balewa square where the fun begins fully.
The Eyo displays different acrobatic skills with singing, dancing, and chanting which makes the festival more colorful and entertaining.
An important thing to note during the festival is that any form of motorcycling, women with a particular kind of hairstyle called Suku, walking with shoes on, and smoking are highly prohibited to avoid the Eyo from beating with their sticks.
At the end of the festival, the Eyo moves to the para in the enu owu to destroy it and this symbolizes the end of the festival.

Born Smart: Orile Agege Chairman VS Agege Bread
A test of intelligence and popularity two different personality with the aim of earning trust from the people, no doubt you're surprise about the Agege bread been represented as a human figure but it isn't a mistake cause by the end of this we should be able to attest the smartest.
The Agege chairman no doubt changes periodically and it's currently a position sitting different individuals currently we've on sit Johnson Sunday Babatunde who has won the heart of the people thereby relocating his office to the street indeed proving the genuity of the local government and been the government at the grass root. This action has won him much respect been that Nigeria's politics has been structured with humans whose aim and self is the goal of governance.
This action has earned him popularity and the theme "Born smart", he lived a street life, got the power of the street, and has so returned to the Street despite his credibility he still hasn't been able to defeat the popularity of the Agege bread.
The Agege bread is common to all and known even by the crème de LA crème of the society, eaten by flies and germs but has never won the heart of many.
No doubt a creation can not exist without a creator, therefore, a baker must have been involved but it was unwise of the person that initiated the idea of the bread cause the bread is popular no doubt but the initiator is known unlike the chairman of the local government whose name is still known for the number of years in service irrespective of what kind of governance, also it will be in the record that a certain person was in power but now all bakers take credibility for Agege bread and some have even developed the bread to something not only sweeter but luring and well branded such as ShopRite bread, Winnie so, therefore, the war is between the initiator of Agege bread and the local government chairperson cause even if Agege has the popularity which is more glaring than the smartness, it a slap cause it classifies making it just a common bread that can be abused anyhow and eaten by anyone no wonder it's known as bricklayers food.
In relation to life, our limitations is like that of the Agege bread but our success is that of the local government chairman, an extra to the mile would have enveloped differently so be wise and make a choice remember popularity can birth poverty but success envelopes popularity.
Free school shuttle buses for pupils, street(s) solar light and street road maintenance, the current
chairman of Agege is winning the heart of his people with these he deserved more tenure.
Wawu the free School shuttle bus is for public primary and secondary schools within the locality.
We keep saying it that, ever since the establishment of Orile Agege LCDA no chairman has ever done what the current chairman is doing. He has the zeal to drive Agege to the right path.
In furtherance of its continued commitment to interventions that transform lives and improve the health and well-being of communities in Orile Agege.Hnr Johnson Sunday Babatunde has constructed 6 Water boreholes in all the wards in the community.
The current chairman is not like Agege bread he is smart to take Agege to the next level if you know you know Agege is no more a local champion because everyday things are changing. Born smart!!!
