Holding a doctorate degree in finance from Ekiti State University; Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State and another in business administration from Adeleke University; Ede ; Osun State.
He is the Governor of Ogun State after winning the 2019 general elections under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) although he started his political career under the umbrella of the people's democratic party ( PDP) despite him facing challenges from not just the people but also from Ibikunle Amosun.

He was elected as a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria on the platform of the defunt united Nigeria congress party( UNCP) in 1998. Serving as a member of various presidential committees and organizations. Having govern for 8 years still the people still seek him out and as a Christian he ensures he carry out his daily activities with the fear of God in him.
